Welcoming to our complete Post-Crisis Superman Reading Order. With the arrival of the New 52 in 2011, DC Comics put a close to over two decades worth of continuity. What was known as the “Post-Crisis” era was laid to rest, with those stories getting a clear beginning and end. (For those not in the know, Post-Crisis refers to the issues after the cross over event “Crisis on the Infinite Earths”, which reset most of DC’s major superheros, giving them a modern take as of 1986).

The reading order below consist of the most complete listing of Superman comics of the post-crisis era in the order that they should be read.

Our Superman reading order comes with its own order numbering system, extrapolated from the “triangle” numbers that appeared during a good portion of Superman books in this era. we here have read many issues of Superman in this era, but definitely not all of those listed below. Therefore, drop us a comment to let us know if something should be changed.  The books are by default listed in chronological order.

The list is also instantly filterable. That means you can make your list quickly, by searching for creators (Such as “Byrne” or “Jurgens”) or characters (“Superboy”) or even stories (“Reign of the Supermen”). One of the best ways to get started is with John Byrne’s Man of Steel miniseries that begins or Superman Reading Order, which we here have seen in many dollar bins at our local comic shop.  It can also be found in trade paperback, though it is currently out of print.
